A 52-year-old male presents with vision loss in his right eye. He was in his usual state of health and feeling well this morning when he developed sudden onset blurred vision 2 hours ago. He denies pain in his eye. There is no report of trauma or ocular discharge. The patient has a history of hypertension and non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus. There is decreased visual acuity in the affected eye (20/200) compared to the non-affected eye (20/40). Pupillary exam reveals an afferent pupillary defect. A fundoscopic exam is performed (see attached media).
